What would happen if your computers didn’t work anymore?

Can your business operate without computers? If you are like us, you may as well shut your doors if your computers aren’t functioning. This used to be the case when the power went out, now for most people it’s also the case when the computers are down.

What can cause computer down time?

    • Hardware failure (some physical component of your computer fails)
    • Human error. One wrong click on the internet. One wrong file deleted
    • Viruses
    • Hackers

How long can you go without your computer and/or your data?

    • Can you be down 2 weeks? 1 week? A day? Hours?
    • How much will down time cost you
    • What if you could never get your files back?

What can be done to prevent or at least reduce the risk of this happening to you?

  1. Create a risk tolerance plan for your business.
  2. Keep up on your critical updates (windows and other software).
  3. Keep antivirus functioning and up to date.
  4. Do preventative maintenance.
  5. System monitoring (so things can be fixed before they cause problems).

  7. Backup. Backup!
